AYANA SPIVAK, MA Psychology
Ayana is an experienced Psychotherapist who has been working with diverse clienteles both in private practice and in clinical settings for over 10 years. Ayana possesses a Master’s Degree in Psychology and is continuously working on improving her professional skills. She has a Diploma in Expressive Arts Therapy from the CREATE Institute (Toronto, Canada) as well as a Diploma in Dance/Movement Psychotherapy.
Using such Expressive Arts mediums as music, visual art, dance, collage and play, Ayana works with children experiencing self-esteem issues and bullying. She supports clients building their confidence skills and social skills for social anxiety.
Through the expressive potential of Art Ayana helps clients with Developmental Disabilities, Asperger's Syndrome and Autism to communicate comfortably and to be understood.
Ayana applies a person-centred strength based approach in therapy with adults who feel stuck in their life; with people who need a new perspective and new energy to move forward.
In therapeutic relationships, she provides a safe welcoming environment and help her clients, both children and adults to:
clarify tangled thoughts and feelings,
set and move towards their goals,
find their inner source of vitality and creativity,
get to know themselves better.
Ayana is currently meeting requirements of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. She is a member of Ontario Expressive Arts Therapy Association (OEATA) and Dance/Movement Therapy Association of Canada (DMTAC). She shares her knowledge and skills in the field, presenting her work at various conferences and facilitating educational workshops all around the world.
Ayana provides treatment both in English and Russian. She is based in Thornhill and Richmond Hill.
